The School of Pharmacy prepares undergraduate students for careers in the pharmacy profession. It offers a foundation for further specialization in various fields within pharmaceutical sciences. The program also serves as a stepping stone for advanced studies at the School of Pharmacy or other life sciences and medical disciplines at the university or other higher education institutions.
B.Sc Pharm - Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
About the Program
The B.Sc.Pharm. program at the School of Pharmacy spans seven semesters of coursework (including lectures, laboratories, workshops, and seminars) and six months of practical internship. The curriculum covers topics from the exact, life, medical, and pharmaceutical sciences. The first year focuses on introductory chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, anatomy, and statistics courses. From the second year onward, students study clinical pharmacy, drug design, pharmacokinetics, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, pharmaceutical administration, and disease processes. Upon completing their studies and internships, students earn a bachelor's degree in pharmacy (B.Sc.Pharm).
Graduates of the School of Pharmacy find employment in various settings, including community, private, and institutional pharmacies, hospitals, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and scientific research institutions. They work both in Israel and internationally.
Pharmacy studies include three main topics:
Medicinal Chemistry involves the synthesis and isolation of new substances with biological activity, computerized design of new drugs, and analysis of mechanisms of biological activity of substances, among other things.
Pharmaceutical Sciences include the development of new approaches to drug delivery, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic clinical and preclinical research, gene therapy, innovative drug development, and clinical pharmacy research.
Pharmacology investigates the mechanisms of drug activity, the study of aging processes, allergy mechanisms, and diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's, neurodegeneration, brain diabetes, and drug and alcohol addictions, and the development of new drugs for these pathologies.
