Program Highlights

Research topics for the Master's degree in Medicinal Chemistry include computerized drug design, synthesis of new active molecules or enhanced derivatives of existing drugs, developing chemical methods for the synthesis of natural substances, proteins, and nucleic acids and their derivatives, synthesis of imaging materials to identify diseases, synthesis of biopolymers consumables for drug delivery, and development of models for predicting and understanding drug binding and action mechanisms.

Course details

The student should consult with the advisor regarding the appropriate courses for his field of research. Some master's courses are offered once every two years, so the student must review all the courses offered at the beginning of the academic year.

Admission Requirements

  1. Admission Requirements for Students Who Have Completed Bachelor's Degree in Israel
  2. Graduates of a B.Sc.Pharm degree in pharmacy from the Hebrew University or Ben-Gurion University who have completed a grade of at least 80 will be accepted.
    2. The Committee for Graduate Studies will discuss the admission of holders of a "bachelor's" degree (B.Sc.) in the field of natural sciences from Hebrew University or from an equivalent academic institution of higher education in Israel who have completed a grade of at least 80. If necessary, supplementary studies will be required.
  3. Students must meet English exemption requirements at the university level.
  4. Holders of a "bachelor's" degree in the natural sciences who do not meet the admission requirements listed above due to an insufficient graduate grade may apply for admission, and their case will be discussed by the Committee for Graduate Studies.
  5. A student who is required to complete completion as a condition for admission to the master's degree will be required to have a grade of at least 80 in the supplementary course unless the chairman of the Committee for Graduate Studies decides on a higher grade, or a minimum grade for each course separately.
  6. As a condition for registering for advanced studies, the student must obtain the consent of one of the researchers of the School of Pharmacy to serve as an instructor for the research work. (Responsible for carrying out the research work, consultant for formulating a curriculum, and ensuring the thesis is submitted according to the required rules). It is possible to add a supervisor who does not have to be one of the teachers of the School of Pharmacy. The inclusion of the sub-advisor is subject to the approval of the chairman of the Committee for Graduate Studies. No more than two instructors per student will be approved.
  7. Students can register for "master's" studies at the School of Pharmacy until the beginning of the school year. Studies will begin in the first or second semester.
  8. Admission Requirements for Students Who Have Completed Bachelor's Degree Studies Abroad
  9. Holders of a bachelor's degree in pharmacy or B.Sc. In the natural sciences, those who have completed their studies abroad must produce a certificate from the Ministry of Admission of Overseas Students confirming that the university they studied at is accredited and their grade point average is equivalent to the abovementioned requirements.
  10. After receiving the above approval, the Committee for Graduate Studies will consider their acceptance according to sections 3-6 of the admission requirements.
