Research Highlights:
The Mahameed Laboratory integrates basic and translational cancer research with synthetic biology. In our lab, we develop and apply synthetic biology tools to answer fundamental questions in cell signaling and protein quality control within the secretory pathway of cancer cells. In addition, our work explores how protein homeostasis in the secretory pathway shapes the tumor microenvironment (TME), aiming to identify novel therapeutic targets. Our lab employs a diverse range of molecular, biochemical, and bioengineering tools in vitro and animal models.
In addition to our fundamental research, we focus on developing innovative therapeutic strategies for combating solid tumors. This includes the bioengineering of immune cells to enhance their capabilities to recognize and eliminate malignant cells within the TME.
